When we think about self esteem, we often imagine it as a fixed trait, something we either have or do not. But self esteem is not static; it is a dynamic reflection of how we relate to ourselves and the parts of us that have carried our experiences.
Our sense of worth is shaped by how our emotional needs were met or unmet in childhood. If we grew up feeling unseen, unheard, or unsupported, certain parts of us may have adopted beliefs like “I’m not enough” or “I must please others to be safe.” These protective parts were trying to keep us safe at the time, but they can now influence patterns of self doubt, people pleasing, or avoiding our own needs.
Healing begins with awareness and compassion, not just for ourselves as a whole, but for these parts. By gently noticing the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of different parts of ourselves, we can begin to dialogue with them, understand their protective intentions, and help them step aside so our core Self, the compassionate, confident, and wise part of us, can lead.
Building self esteem is not about striving for perfection. It is about reconnecting with our inherent worth, befriending all the parts of ourselves, and treating ourselves with the kindness and respect we deserve.
My approach is gentle and calm. I create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space that allows you to bring and explore whatever you feel comfortable with. I tailor my approach to your specific needs and you will decide the pace that works best for you.
I believe that the counseling process is not about providing answers, but rather about collaboratively uncovering the answers that already exist within you. It's a journey of self-exploration, helping to unravel the intricacies of thoughts and emotions, and shining a light on the unseen aspects of your inner world.
I will support you in understanding what might lie underneath your difficulties and together we will identify strategies to help you move forward.
Your challenges can become opportunities for growth, an opportunity to journey towards self-acceptance. My intention is to create a space for you where you can find this acceptance and cultivate a relationship with yourself where all parts of you are welcomed, understood and allowed to be there.
If you resonate with my approach and find yourself grappling with a challenging situation, persistent unhelpful behavior patterns, trauma, depression, ongoing anxiety, or a feeling of inner imbalance, engaging in counseling could be a valuable step toward improving your well-being.
